COVID-19 School Nurse Happenings

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

At NDSNO, we want to recognize the amazing work you are still doing during this time. Even though we can't be with our students, we are all still working hard to help them lead healthy lives. Please send us your stories! Read about school nurse Jenny below!

School Nurse Jenny Heustis has been busy finding creative ways to teach healthy habits to her students at Jeanette Myhre Elementary in Bismarck, ND during this distance learning school model. She has created several personalized videos for teachers on topics ranging from handwashing to staying active that are being utilized in online learning boards. One of her videos even involved a Chewbacca mask!

Jenny says, “Since I am unable to see all of the kids sweet faces at school and go into their classrooms and teach, I wanted to do the next best thing and create something that they would enjoy watching and learning from. I wanted to add a personal touch so the kids could hear my voice. My kids graciously helped me with my videos and my 10 year old daughter and 13 year old son helped with the process of showing their mom how to use WeVideo and Powtoons. I have learned that I am a little behind the times when it comes to new technology but was so gracious that my kids were able to help me. I hope that my videos put a smile on at least one kids faces. I just want them to know that I miss them dearly and look forward to seeing them.”
